Psoriasis
Psoriasis, also known as psoriasis, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects approximately 2-4% of the population.
It is an autoimmune disease in which there is excessive skin cell production – the cells renew themselves too quickly, leading to their accumulation on the skin’s surface.
The result is typical symptoms such as reddened plaques covered with silvery scales, dryness, itching and sometimes even unpleasant pain.
Causes of psoriasis
The causes of psoriasis are not fully understood, but experts agree that it is a combination of genetic predispositions and external triggers.
The most common triggers include previous infection (e.g. tonsillitis), long-term or acute stress, hormonal fluctuations (e.g. during puberty or menopause),
use of certain medications (e.g. beta-blockers, lithium, antimalarials), but also climatic conditions, especially cold and dry environments, which dry the skin even more.
Lifestyle, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and obesity also have an impact, which can worsen the course of the disease.
This variability in causes explains why each patient has an individual course of psoriasis and a different reaction to different triggers.
The most common occurrence of psoriasis on the body
Psoriasis most often appears in places where the skin is most exposed to pressure, friction or repeated mechanical irritation –
typical areas include elbows, knees, scalp, but also the lower back and back of the torso.
These places are more prone to the development of characteristic lesions, because this is where the skin is often unnecessarily irritated or exposed to external influences.
In some people, it can also appear on the nails or in skin folds. The course of the disease tends to fluctuate – periods of improvement alternate with worsening.
Solution for psoriatic skin
Effective supportive care for psoriasis is Spiridea Keralan – an ointment with keratolytic and regenerative effects.
It contains ingredients that remove keratinized skin, soften the surface of the lesions and support the restoration of the skin’s protective barrier.
Thanks to this, it reduces tension, itching and improves the overall appearance of the affected areas.
The ointment is suitable for daily use, 1 to 2 times a day even in a thicker layer.
Spiridea Keralan can be an effective addition to the treatment prescribed by a dermatologist – it helps to maintain the skin in better condition.
