Calluses
Calluses are thickened, hardened areas of skin that form as a natural response to repeated friction, pressure, or irritation. Although they are a protective mechanism to prevent damage to the deeper layers of the skin, excessive cornification can lead to uncomfortable tightness, soreness, and in some cases, cracks or recurring inflammation.
Causes of calluses
The causes of calluses are most often mechanical. They arise from repeated stress on a certain area of the skin – for example, during manual work, sports, walking or wearing unsuitable shoes. In response to this pressure, the skin begins to create multiple layers of keratinized cells, which increases its resistance and hardness. This condition is technically called “hyperkeratosis”.
Calluses can also appear due to incorrect posture, uneven load on the feet or as a result of orthopedic problems. Risk factors include dry skin, insufficient hydration or a genetic predisposition to keratinization of the skin.
The appearance of calluses on the body
Calluses most often occur in areas exposed to pressure or friction – i.e. on the palms, fingers, heels, feet (especially in the area of the fingertips and sides), but also on the elbows or knees.
Solution for calluses
The solution to the care of calloused skin is the use of effective emollients and moisturizers, which help remove the excess layer of skin and at the same time prevent its re-formation.

They support the natural removal of dead cells, moisturize the skin, and reduce the formation of hard spots.
